Howard Wellington Merrill, enlisted 1864 in Capt. Twitchell's Company, Seventh Maine Battery; promoted to orderly sergeant: died of fever before Richmond March 25th, 1865.  See Records History of the Seventh Maine Light Battery

Born January 8, 1845, son of Joseph Merrill, shoemaker, and Dolly Follansbee Merrill at Pond Hills, Jan. 8, 1845. Joesph and Dolly m. 18 June 1834
