Charles Willis Patten and Elizabeth Sargent Amesbury MA

Charles Boardman Patten the son, of Willis Patten (Willis, Stephen, William, Nathaniel, William) was born in ‘West Amesbury, September 18, 1794. See Patten genealogy : William Patten of Cambridge, 1635 and his descendants by Baldwin, Thomas W. (Thomas Williams), b. 1849



From Skinner Auctioneers American School, 19th Century Miniature Portraits of the Patten Family. "Stephen Patten and Celia Patten, Daniel Lowell - Jane Lowell - Charles Lowell and Susan H. Patten" and "Taken about 1816".

Genealogical records indicate that Stephen Patten was born on May 15, 1765, in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, the son of Willis Patten and Hannah Sargent. On November 3, 1808 he married Susan Hopkins of Portland, Maine. Susan died in 1809, and another record indicates he married Celia Lowell of Portland, Maine in 1810. Three of the children Daniel, Charles, and Jane, indicated with the last name of Lowell were the offspring from Celia's first marriage to Daniel Lowell of Portland, Maine. Daniel died April 28, 1809. Susan, the youngest child illustrated, was born in 1810, and was the first child born to Stephen and Celia Patten. They went on to have three more children, Celia, George, and Edward, all born in Portland, Maine.
A cardboard backing bears pen inscriptions identifying the names of the sitters, and an applied printed paper label for the Boston Milk Street firm "F. Lloyd, Carver, Gilder, and Picture Frame Maker...", and an inscription "This taken from older home C.W.P. 1859." Provenance: Bob Thayer, Massachusetts.

I am a descendant of Jacob Short he was my Great Grand Father, and I am the Grand Daughter of Eleanor Short, I am also related to Raymond Sargent who was my Grand Father whom I never knew, he lived in Haverhill until his death
