Meek Oven Company Salisbury Massachusetts Gas Oven

George Meek immigrated to America in 1888 from Edinburgh, Scotland. He lived in Salisbury, Massachusetts. He was son of George B Meek and Jane Wilson. He married Pauline ________.
According to “Newburyport, MA The Gateway to the Merrimack Valley” published in 1927 George worked in New York before he opened his company. He left Salisbury for a few years and assumed the role of controller for Crandell-Godfrerf Factory manufacturers of bakers and confectioners supplies.
While working in New York Meek brainstormed his invention for a large gas oven which he perfected and patented on June 14, 1910. A year later he did the same in Canada on July 25, 1911.
When the ovens hit the market Reel Stove Co. was a huge success! Meek’s reputation well he was known to have the hottest cookers around the globe!
Ad in the “Gas Age, Volume 39,” in 1917 the Meek Oven Co. of Newburyport, Mass., 33 Water Street announced the present company was dissolved and a new company formed under the name of the Meek Oven Manufacturing Co.  “the same line of business under the personal supervision of George B. Meek, who will give all business his careful and prompt attention.”
Meek is listed in a 1920 business directory working with G E Porter.

In a 1920 census Salisbury, MA listed George B Meek age 64 household is son George, JR married and age 29. A Pauline Meek age 51 born in New York and her parents born in Germany. A Lillian F Meek age 3 born in New Hampshire. Source American Ancestors
A George B Meek, JR listed machinist married Eva Durant of Haverhill, Massachusetts daughter of Milo Durant and Emma Stearns. Rev Silas L Morse of Haverhill preformed the ceremony on November 12 1914.  Emma was listed as 15 years old and George was 24. Source American Ancestors
Pine Hill Cemetary Hollis, NH  Milo Alonzo Durant (1868-1945) son of George W Durant and Georgianna/Annie F Lund and wife Emma Ann Stearns (1868-1935) daughter of William H Stearns and Lydia Woods.  Milo and Emma married on April 8 1892.
