THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Thursday, January 13, 1916, Volume XXXIX, Number 9, Page 1, Column 4, “Daughter of the Revolution.” [Transcribed on October 5, 2005 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.]
In Mrs. Margaret NEIRY, seventy-four years old, who has been visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John KUNKLER, Linton, has had a guest who is a real Daughter of the American Revolution. Her father, who was seventy-five years old when she was born, served throughout the revolution. Mrs. NEIRY came to her daughter’s home recently to remain for the winter.
Mrs. NEIRY is the daughter of Jonas FRAZEE, who was born in New Jersey. At the outbreak of the war for Independence he enlisted in the continental army and took an active part in the battle of Bunker Hill and other engagements in that memorable conflict. Mr. FRAZEE was married twice and Mrs. NEIRY is a daughter by the second marriage, her father having been seventy-five years old when she was born, the family at that time living at Cleveland, Ohio. Mrs. NEIRY remembers many things her father told about his experience while fighting for American independence. She was fifteen years old when he died. Mr. FRAZEE died at Miamiville, Ohio, fifty-nine years ago at the age of ninety-nine years. A few days before his death he suffered from a fall, which was the direct cause of his death. Several years before his death he received a pension from the government.

Mrs. NEIRY is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, having joined the chapter at Fort Worth, Texas, where she has a sister living. She recently received from the national society at Washington, D. C., a handsome solid gold D. A. R. spoon. On the handle in attractive workmanship is engraved an old fashioned spinning wheel, surmounted by two flags, within the bowl is engraved a chrysanthemum and the words, “Presented to M. F. N. by the National Society D. A. R.”

Mrs. NEIRY is the mother of five children, only one of whom, Mrs. KUNKLER, lives in Linton. She makes her home with her children. A little more than a year ago while with a daughter at Washington she fell and broke her arm and hip, and has never recovered from the accident, being obliged to walk with the aid of a crutch. She was seventy-four years old last June.
