Recorded in "Chronological Record of the Principal Events that Have Occurred in Amesbury," Emily Binney Smith in 1897: Curfew bell again rung at nine o'clock. Order of Eastern Star instituted. Old South Historical Society visits Amesbury. Amesbury Improvement Association incorporated, and site of Golgotha given by F. F. Morrill of Newburyport. New schoolhouse at Pond Hills built on old church lot.
